If you are using the Home or a higher Edition of Spybot +AV tasks can be automated. Spybot can create a Windows scheduler task to keep your Spybot up to date, immunized and run system scans regularly. Of course manual updates like in the Free Edition are possible, too. You can adjust these scheduled tasks via settings. You can also set a scheduled task for most recently used files to enhance security.
