PU.CosmosSystemCare scans the computer for errors and invalid registry entries in order to improve system stability. If the user wants to fix these entries they have to activate the program. This software license costs $49.95 (status: May 2018).
Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "MakiwaraNotify" and pointing to "?<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\sdccont.exe? /dummy /cfg ?<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\uiFramework\common\PCPowerCare.xml? /notificationtoaster /mutexname notificationtoaster /hideWindow".

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.
  • Products that have a key or property named "Support.com Cosmos".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$COMMONDESKTOP>\Cosmos.lnk".
  • The file at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\Cosmos.lnk".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\GadgetInstaller.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\sdcCont.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\sdcConta.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\sdcService.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\ssagent.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\sscontLm.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\toolBarInstWrapper.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos\uninst.exe".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\Cosmos.exe".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\Tasks\MainUIModule_Support.com_Cosmos_{BDA49F87-1626-484F-AB5B-41EA29B28AD7}.job".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If PU.CosmosSystemCare uses rootkit technologies, use the rootkit scanner integrated into Spybot-S&D 2.x or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Support.com Cosmos".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If PU.CosmosSystemCare uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "contDll.SPRTBrowserCtrl.1", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "contDll.SPRTBrowserCtrl", plus associated values.
  • Delete the registry key "{0E76D3CE-B225-4755-BE1C-2DBE0FE02B48}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{0F8423EA-25AE-4734-919D-2DD99C374EF2}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{14A0DD92-7D28-4956-B4E3-338DA4808BDA}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{1D1F4581-D68C-4DC3-BCAA-85A5255955E6}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{373E11AB-4045-4725-A3D5-A3736990B0CB}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{386DDFAF-10FC-4AF5-BDD8-072BDAF250BA}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{389A18D9-749D-433D-8206-2D9C9E738B2A}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{461482D2-5066-4A50-BA45-FD500D2E96C5}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{4FB51E58-A559-42F7-B405-11C9B8ABB5B5}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{5273BB7C-4862-47B1-BB51-EDBC25A40718}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".

  • Delete the registry key "PC PowerCare" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Support.com\ProviderList\".
  • Delete the registry key "Support.com Cosmos" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\".
  • Delete the registry key "Support.com Cosmos" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\".
  • Delete the registry key "Support.com Cosmos" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\".
If PU.CosmosSystemCare uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
